As advocates we often need to build and mature our conversations and strategies in the real-world, engaged with real meat-eating people about their choices. We make mistakes, but that is how we get experience and how we improve our conversations.

These prompts are not a replacement for the real-world of advocate outreach. They are a tool to assist us in developing our arguments, becoming more comfortable with our responses, and in preparing us for the situations we may find ourselves in.

Copy and paste the following prompts into ChatGPT and enjoy the conversation. There is no pressure to perform and there are no wrong answers. It’s not about winning, it’s about the value of the conversation.

Feel free to change the wording, introduce more difficulty, or entirely develop your own prompts.

The Prompts

Imagine you are a member of the public who enjoys consuming meat and feels defensive about their dietary choice. I am an animal advocate encouraging people to become vegan. You are entering into a conversation with me about the impact of those choices on the animals who are killed. You begin, but we will try to keep our responses to each other to a sentence or two.

An everyday meat-eater

Imagine you are a medical student and you are entering into a conversation with me about the use of animals in medical research. You support their use and are very knowledgable. I do not support their use and am advocating for their removal from research. You begin, but we will try to keep our responses to each other to a sentence or two.

I believe small steps towards veganism make a difference, but you disagree. You disagree and want everyone to be vegan today. You display emotion when thinking about what animals are subjected to in intensive farming. You are entering into a conversation with me my activism. You begin, but we will try to keep our responses to each other to a sentence or two.

Imagine you are an environmental activist. Your activism techniques include public disruption and protest. You want everyone to stop driving cars and flying in planes, and you believe that large businesses and the governments are respinsible for negative environmental changes. I am an animal advocate encouraging people to become vegan, and understand that animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of environmental damage. You disagree.
